Time Machine

This is an installation designed to reflect the unfair working conditions faced by food delivery workers in China. I created a time stick that participants can use to experience the passage of time. Each participant begins by receiving a delivery order, which directs them to four designated drop-off points on the course. At each point, the participant places the timer into a color-coded cup corresponding to the location. After completing the delivery route, they hang the timer on the installation. The time sticks, representing each participant's delivery duration and unique route, provide insight into the daily routines of delivery workers. As the installation fills up with fluttering delivery slips from participants, I aim to convey the fragility of an industry that appears orderly and structured on the surface but is in reality precarious and fraught with danger. These workers, often isolated and unsupported, labor tirelessly on the streets. Through this installation, I hope to inspire respect for those in this indust
